Updates to Children's Free-to-Air Television Programming Hours

Following the merger of Mediacorp #okto with Mediacorp Channel 5, the children's programming hours on free-to-air television under the Interpretive Guidelines have been updated. 

Media Release: Misleading advertisements for beauty, restaurants most complained about in 2018

ASAS received a total of 218 instances of feedback in 2018. It received the most feedback on beauty-related advertisements, followed by restaurant advertisements.

Sale of Infant Foods Ethics Committee Singapore (SIFECS) Code of Ethics (5th Revision)

The Sale of Infant Foods Ethics Committee Singapore (SIFECS) Code Review Committee has introduced the fifth revision to the SIFECS Code, which includes the expansion of the scope from 0-6 months to 0-12 months, the expansion of sponsorship restrictions for healthcare institutions, the introduction of a penalty framework, and the expansion of the infant formula labelling in the Sale of Food Act.

Consumer Advisory: Wowmall - Consumers cautioned about misleading advertisements online

Between May to June 2018, the Consumers Association of Singapore (CASE) received seven complaints* from consumers against Wowmall, an online business (operating overseas), regarding the purchase of a watch that was drastically different from what was advertised online. Separately, the Advertising Standards Authority of Singapore (ASAS) received four feedback on the same matter.

Media Release - Updates to Appendix J (Investments)

The ASAS will implement enhanced guidelines to regulate advertisements on investments, including investments in overseas properties, and investment services. The enhanced guidelines aim to minimise the scope for advertisers of investments and investment services to make claims that are speculative, misleading or which cannot be substantiated.
